Sony Ericsson has released support videos for a number of the newer 2011 Xperia range including the mini family, the Xperia pro and Xperia ray. The mini family support videos show how to use the homescreen, on screen keyboard and contacts. For the Xperia ray, Sony Ericsson walks through the message, mail and chat features.


The Xperia pro, which has been delayed to Q4 in most Western markets, has four support videos one of which shows how to use the slide-out keyboard (the Xperia mini pro also has a similar video). Other videos cover connectivity and contacts. There is also one final video for Xperia arc, PLAY and neo owners which shows how to update the software in your phone. The Sony Xperia mini and Xperia mini pro have already gone on sale in some parts of the world (mainly Asia) but is still waiting a release in Europe. To give an idea of what is inside the box, SE-First has unboxed the Xperia mini pro.

The Xperia mini pro comes with two covers, the white model comes with a pink cover and the black model comes with a turquoise cover. Whilst the content in each box depends on the regional SKU this particular version came with a screen protector, tiny wiping cloth and spatula to clear the bubbles from the screen protector. Xperia mini and Xperia mini pro hit UK pre-order, Dated for August release

The diminutive Xperia mini and Xperia mini pro handsets are now both available to pre-order sim-free in the UK. Play.com has flagged the release date of the handsets as 5 August where the Xperia mini will set you back £209.99 and the Xperia mini pro (including a keyboard) will cost £239.99. These are more expensive than the X10 mini products were on release, but we wouldn’t be surprised to see the Xperia mini lower than £200 shortly after launch.

Hope Malaysia will launch it too on August 2011, Xperia Ray might be launch on September 2011. So, it won't crash on the month of launching date.

Sony is without doubt pushing ahead of the pack with the great line up of handsets.  The Sony Pro is for business, the Sony Play is for gamings and the Arc is the flaship for Premier market. The only thing that has be left behind is the popular X10 mini line- good news is that this soon to change.

 

With a lot of the major handset manufacturers producing larger and larger screens- Sony has answered the consumer need for the smaller screen by releasing an update

 

The original Sony Ericsson x10 Mini and Mini pro, have been a massive success and this looks set to be beaten by the next set of xperia minis.

 

Xperia Mini HD

The Xperia mini HD is the Smallest HD smart phone on the market today. Like its the Sony Xperia Play and Arc big brothers it comes with the Sony Bravia Engine – with reality display which enhances the the quality, colour and contrast of pictures and video.  Unlike its previous incarnation, this is equipped with the latest Android Gingerbread 2.3 release and a 1GHZ SnapDragon Processor. The Battery has also been suped up to the tune of 30% whilst maintaining its original superbly small form factor.

This update will also be rolling out a new Xperia HD mini pro- with its slide out QWERTY keyboard.

In  terms of Software enhancements, Sony have expanded their mini custom ui, by turning the the 4 corner icons into their own retractable drawers which can contain up to 4 individual icons.

The big show piece for this release is that Sony will be launching even better Facebook integration into their custom UI.

Partnered closely with facebook, Sony are rolling out Facebook inside Xperia which is coming out to all Sony handsets by Q2 and will be released to Sony Arc and Play handsets via an OTA update.

The aim of the update is to further embed Facebook into the phone specifically into its media gallery, music player, calendar, and contacts.

In the Music section users can like music and then can add like function in player.  Then go straight to the sony Track Id page which lets them play, buy or watch music videos direct from the Track ID webpage.



There is a media discovery page in the app which lets you see what your friends like which you can comment on.  There is also a media discovery widget which will give easy access to see whats current.

The Gingerbread standard gallery  has also been enhanced to allow users to find all content within the gallery.  Using gallery and HDMI output you  can do a slide show of your favourite photos on your telly, or even browse your tagged photos or photos uploaded to facebook.  You can even “like” and add comments to it.

The enhanced integration with the Sony Contacts app is also much improved.  Not only do you get your contact information you can see their status updates, photos tagged and even browse your friend’s interests.

Finally the calendar will now automatically sync birthdays and events direct to your phones.

Sony is now the most popular Android platform on facebook, with the most number of fans.  By giving its users good priced handsets which offer better integration with facebook, will be a first for android and a first for any other platform accross the mobile market.

Great Xperia Mini & Mini Pro Event Last Night

I must admit I’m a bit tired today. I really think the event last night was a great one, the discussions I had with some of you attending were truly inspirational and it was great to get to meet that many tech-bloggers in person.

Some of you there run sites that has been in my browser’s start-up tabs since almost 10 years ago now and I admittedly almost got a bit star struck by meeting some of you

As a summary of the event it all started with presenations from our top people within marketing and communication, went on to the introduction of the new Xperia minis by the head of our compact product line and then finished of with a great comprehensive demonstration of the new Facebook inside Xperia integration.


After that the real fun began with hands-on of the new minis and great discussions between us Sony Ericsson representatives and all the tech bloggers. I personally had great discussion with many of the invited guests, of course on our products but also on our presence in online media, my work with this blog and the online buzz of the mobile industry in general.

I hope that you that were there enjoyed the event and keep in touch in the future whenever you have questions or suggestions around our products!

Sony Ericsson announces new generation of Xperia Mini and Mini Pro smartphones

Sony Ericsson has just outed a brand new pair of compact Xperia smartphones. The new Xperia Mini will run Android Gingerbread (2.3) on a 3-inch, multitouch, scratch-resistant display, which comes with Sony's proprietary Bravia Engine with Reality Display. There's a 1GHz processor inside, access to Android Market, and home screen customization with custom shortcuts available in the four corners of the screen. A 30 percent improvement in battery life is also touted, courtesy of a larger cell. SE is also pretty jolly about having the world's smallest smartphone capable of recording video in 720p HD. You'll be able to grab yours in one of four different colors this August.

The new Xperia Mini Pro features the same 1GHz processor, 3-inch display, and 1200mAh battery, but it also adds a front-facing camera and that sliding QWERTY keyboard that made the original X10 Mini Pro such a favorite. The new model is coming at some point in the third quarter of this year. Sony Ericsson's launch presentation is still ongoing, but we'll have more details and hands-on pics as soon as we can.

Upcoming Sony Ericsson Xperia Mini Pro (SK17i) snapped in every angle, sized up against X10 mini pro

Sony Ericsson has a notoriously bad reputation when it comes to leaks and it doesn’t look like that will stop any time soon. We have a full gallery of pictures below of the yet-to-be-announced successor to the X10 mini pro. The Sony Ericsson SK17i ‘Mango’ will be an Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) device with a 3-inch (320 × 480) display, 5MP camera and sliding QWERTY keyboard.

It has been pictured in almost every angle by the bods over at Mobile.163 in high-res detail leaving nothing to the imagination. They’ve also conveniently compared the handset to the X10 mini pro in a number of the pics (remember the X10 mini pro has a smaller 2.55-inch display). Other things we noticed was a flap cover for the USB port and a 1200mAh battery. All of the pictures are available after the jump.

Anyway, this maybe just a concept prototype. Just share to all Sony Ericsson fans here, this would run below of Xperia Pro specs & it might work without a Mobile Bravia Engine & Exmor 'R' CMOS Sensor, but the design is still pretty cool right.
