Sony Ericsson 2011 Xperia Range To Get Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread

After Samsung, Sony Ericsson is the next manufacturer which is likely to bring Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread to its smartphones launched this year.

According to a Sony Ericsson website called SEMCblog, The updates are apparently being tested on the Xperia Play, Neo, arc and Pro and may be coming to the other three - the Ray, the active and the txt - which were launched last month as well.
When will it be introduced? Sony Ericsson has not confirmed anything yet but given Google's current stance on rapidly rolling out firmware upgrades, a Q3 2011 launch shouldn't be ruled out.
It is unlikely that Gingerbread will ever come to the X8, the X10 Mini Pro or the X10 Mini. Don't discount the X10 though as it has a large enough screen and just enough system storage for Gingerbread.

That minor upgrade will fix a number of bugs and vulnerabilities and will bring in some new features like Sony's audio filter technology, xLOUD and webcam functionality.
It's worth noting that there are rumours of an Android Gingerbread 2.3.5 being developed already, and that by the end of the year both Honeycomb, Google's mobile platform for tablets, and Gingerbread will be merged into one single entity called Ice Cream Sandwich.
